Render Farm are server farms that are customized to render any computer generated imagery and also to enable visual effects. To do this the render farm uses off line batch processing. The rendered image is an activity that is highly parallelizable. The main function of the processors is develop textures and model and to display a finished image in matter of seconds. The amount of processing required is highly processor demanding activity that will need processing speeds of millions of tetra bits.
The increasing miniaturization of computers and increase in speed has led to increasing speed of visualization. With increasing speed of visualization on one hand, the clarity and image quality have been increasing proportionally, nulling the advancements in technology. This is the reason technology has to be two steps ahead of the image visualization requirement. With the spread of 3D movies, 3D is getting more popular with realism becoming more normal. The time spent in visualizing high definition and 3D images require intensive processing powers which are not possible with normal singular servers or standalone computers. It is increasingly being done by server farms that are rich in graphic cards and software which are more specifically inclined to give faster image processing. These render farms are powered by a queue manger that handles all the simultaneous tasks and helps in distributing processes. These software are the heart of any render farm which either gives a single image to process or a part of the video. Also the data requirements of a render farm are very high which requires separate external storage hard disks. This makes an entire dedicated space for storing the processed images and to save all the animation software that are meant for the visualization. There are other ways of increasing the hardware acceleration by reprogramming the video cards.
